Brownsburg Music: Pro Audio, AM Radio, and More

Brownsburg, Indiana is a small The town hall of Brownsburg, Indianasatellite to the capital of Indiana, Indianapolis. It’s only a few miles west of the Circle City via U.S. 74, so it only takes a short drive to get to downtown Indianapolis. As a result, there isn’t much of a demand for Brownsburg music. The Indianapolis music community contains so many great Indianapolis bands, Indianapolis music venues, and Indianapolis musical organizations that to have a strong music presence in Brownsburg would be redundant.

Brownsburg music fans are close enough to Indianapolis that all it takes is about a fifteen minute trip to one of the six Indianapolis cultural districts to take in some sort of great band of group at an Indianapolis bar or Indianapolis theater. Organizations like the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, American Pianists Association, and Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra all feature concerts near Brownsburg, cool Indianapolis venues like The Vogue Theater and the Emerson Theater are just a stone’s throw from the town, and residents of Brownsburg can even take advantage of a music program at an Indianapolis college from Brownsburg.

Brownsburg music lovers wanting to partake in a Brownsburg shopping trip are in luck, however. This small, progressive community is home to several musical equipment and pro audio shops built just for the aspiring musician or recording engineer. There are two major music store in Brownsburg: R&R Music Central and Ram-Z Music. R&R Music Central is a family owned Brownsburg business that’s been around since 2002. The store offers name brand, state of the art instruments, private lessons, and excellent customer service. Ram-Z Music has been in business much longer, since 1991, and is located in downtown Brownsburg. Competitive prices, a friendly atmosphere, and a convenient location are all part of the Ram-Z experience.

Brownsburg is also home to an independent radio station that’s been broadcasting the golden oldies on the AM dial in the town for many years: XRB 1610 AM. Playing the “artists you forgot you remembered”, XRB 1610 AM is Brownsburg’s hometown station that plays records with a personal touch. XRB 1610 also has features on Brownsburg news, Brownsburg sports, and Brownsburg events, in addition to programming like the Decades of Music Series, which plays music from a different decade each day of the week, Motown Memories with Tom Fallon, bringing you back to the days of smooth rhythm and soul, and The Beatles Show, in which listeners can rekindle their love for the Fab Four all over again.

Due to its proximity to Indianapolis, Brownsburg doesn’t have much in the way of an independent music scene. What it does have, however, is great access to the huge amount of bands, venues, and records that Indianapolis has to offer; it’s also got two fantastic locally owned music stores in R&R Music Central and Ram-Z Music, and a great outlet for the golden oldies, XRB 1610 AM.
