Bobby East: Coming Up Fast in NASCAR

Bobby East, born in Torrance, California in 1984, is now a resident of Brownsburg, a west Indianapolis suburb in Central Indiana. East has made quite a name for himself among famous Brownsburg people, in the milieu of Indy racing leaders and on our Fun City Finder directory of Hoosiers in the news.

In 2001, the youthful-looking but intense race car driver became the youngest ever to win the USAC. Since then he has been busy racking up the honors, at first strictly in Midget car racing:

  • 2001 – Rookie of the Year, National Midget Series
  • 2004 – National Champion of the Midget Series
  • Winner of Midget race at the O’Reilly Raceway Park on the Night Before the Indianapolis 500-mile race
  • Winner of the Terre Haute Action Track “Hut Hundred”
  • Winner of the Belleville Nationals in Belleville Highbanks
  • Winner of 13 USAC races on a national level

In 2005, East switched over to racing stock cars, running for rookie of the year at th eNASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2006. He has since taken home numerous trophies, including a second-place finish in the Silver Crown at O’Reilly Raceway Park. Last February, Bobby East turned in not one, but two finishes in the top three at the “Copper on Dirt” National Midget and USAC Silver Crown races held in Tucscon, Arizona. This, on a track that had been rendered virtually impenetrable by a day-long rainstorm.

Bobby East has continued to show his professionalism at every turn in the road on the track as well as in his career, and is considered a racer who is not only someone to watch carefully, but is evidently on the playing field for the duration.

“Every race we go to, we give it one hundred and ten percent,” East said, adding immediately that he and his team would not be resting on any laurels.
