I don’t know about you, but I welcome recommendations from locals on where to eat. A while back, a friend of mine who lives in Brownsburg, recommended Dawson’s Too Sticks & Stones. I knew that the recommendation would be a good one. I just had a feeling.

Dawson’s Too Sticks & Stones is a locally-owned restaurant which has been in operation since 2011. There is another Dawson’s, the original which is Dawson’s on Main and it’s located in Speedway.

On a recent visit, my Mom and I stopped in for dinner. I’ve been to Dawson’s a handful of times since my friend’s recommendation. Dawson’s remains one of my favorite Brownsburg restaurants.

What sets Dawson’s apart from other restaurants is the high quality of the food. Dawson’s is a large restaurant and yet, they continue to make flavorful food at reasonable prices.

When you dine at Dawson’s you have the option of eating in the dining room or in the bar. My mom and I opted for a booth in the bar, which has a “sports bar vibe”, with plenty of TV’s to watch sports. We’re both baseball fans. We settled in and reviewed the menu for a bit.

There’s a wide-ranging menu of classic American fare with casual menu items such as burgers to fancier items like steaks, seafood and pasta dishes. The chef and staff at Dawson’s do casual pub fare and fancier dishes equally well.

We ordered Stone Salads (a mix of Romaine and Iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes and cheese) with their homemade Tomato Bleu Cheese dressing. The salad was freshly prepared, and complimented by the tangy, Tomato Bleu Cheese dressing.

For our dinner we split one of Dawson’s specialties, the Hand-Breaded Tenderloin Sandwich (hand-breaded pork tenderloin, served on a Brioche bun) with a side of homemade coleslaw.

Hand-Breaded Tenderloin Sandwich – (also Indiana’s official sandwich).

The sizable sandwich did not disappoint and is one of my favorite tenderloin sandwiches in the Indy area. The pork tenderloin was thick (more like a fried pork chop sandwich), with crispy breading and the coleslaw was a perfect accompaniment to the sandwich.

We had a very enjoyable meal and I’m looking forward to returning soon to try more of the menu!

A few other dishes I recommend at Dawson’s Too Sticks & Stones:

  • Fish and Chips (Hand-breaded fish served with Tony’s grandma’s tartar sauce, coleslaw, and french fries).
  • Steak Susan (Filet medallions, with mushrooms and a brandy peppercorn sauce and served with garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables).
  • Hamburger (Fresh made hamburger patty, served on a Kaiser roll).
